Chiang mai is a lovely city with many tourist attractions. It has a small town feel to the large city. Many temples over 700 years old. There is a moat around the city centre with the old town in the middle.
The ping river has many nice restaurants next to it like Riverside or the Goodview.
Many tourists rent motorbikes as they are cheap but they are more dangerous especially to first time drivers. The safer option is a car, having air conditioning and not breathing in the air pollution will be a large benefit.

Some gifts arivied from the DC team with a note:
“Behold the DC Thailand House Duck
I am the guard against all bad luck
I am the protector of all from tilt
I am everyone’s and I am the only duck.”
+ some T-shirts, shirts and hoodies.
Almost 3 Months since we first arrived in Thailand. I think everyone at the house is really enjoying themselves. No one wants to leave yet or even wants to go back to their native countries (exceptions of maybe Tom and Al?).
Last month we had a 100 hours of play prop bet. This was for motivational perposes, the loser would have to give each house mate one buyin at the stake they play most during the month. Everyone past which was great. We have all been lazy previously, it is easy to get distracted. I found it tough because I have been enjoying myself to much.
The back end of Feb we mainly just played and went out during the evenings for drinks ect. Had some great times just at home having drinks and laughs.

The house is a great, good atmostphere, quiet with less distractions then if we were closer to the city. We all grind out the hands together in our ‘war room’. This really helps you stay sane, we all help eachother out and have been doing lots of sweats/hand history reviews.

If we find oursleves on tilt all you have to do is sit out side in the sun then look at the amazing view of the mountain and think about how good we have it here.
We had some get togethers recently, I planned a BBQ at the lake.

We also went to the Reggae Smile party at the same place a few weeks later. It is a big party organised by all the reggae bars in Chiang Mai

A big bar and fesival style atmosphere with live bands. more tourists then Thai people but it was chilled out. There was a nice fire poi show to boot.

Me, Josh, Alex and John.
I took a 5 day trip to Phuket. Unfortunatley I didn’t take many photos but I didn’t do that much due to being sick or hungover for most of the trip.
View from the hotel room was nice. I Stayed next to Patong beach. I don’t recommend staying here, I was tilted so much. They have some good clubs there and is good to go out with a group of friends but not good if you are solo. Thai’s litterally don’t stop trying to sell you something as walk out the front door. The weather was much hotter and you will be sweating all day long. I managed to meet up with some guys on Kata beach down the road. I have to say that place seemed much nicer and quiet but still had some bars/entertainment ect.
Made a visit to the X-center in Mae Rim, CM because it was Phillippes Birthday. You can do a variety of activities including Zorbing (they put you in a big plastic ball and push you down a hill), Bungee jumping, off road buggies, paintballing and go karting.
We opted for the off road buggies.

I had a total of 3 buggies. first one broke down before we made it to the track. 2nd one packed in half way round. Other then that it was really good fun even if it did seem slightly sketchy eg. we were dangerously close to some big vertical drops and it would be very easy to slide over the edge. All part of the fun I guess.
Phillippe decided to go for the bungee jump as well. I had already told him I would do it if he would.
Here are the videos; Phillippe bungee. Richard Bungee
Back to the Riverside Bar/restaurant. A nice little place on the river. You can sit on the boat and eat while they take you down stream. There is a pretty decent live band playing every night and always seems to be friendly in there.
Hope I can update some more things again soon. I will have to take more pictures, been slacking in that area.
Josh made a vid of the new place on facebook. Good times
Rich.
The past week has basically consisted of looking for houses during the day and going out for meals/drinking during the night. So not to many things happening and it has been a frustrating week for all as we haven’t been able to get what we want. Things have perked up a bit now though as we have decided to look for 2 different houses and split up, this way everyone can be happy and we have a wider range of houses to look at. Most houses near the city only have 3 beds and the ones out side 4-5 max.
We went out for Arnaud’s Birthday to a steak house. This place was really expensive for Thailand (1.5K bt/£30 per person or so ) but the meal was very nice! The meat is imported from Oz (lol Thailand has no cows), good quality beef is hard to find around this country.

We got shown around to some great bars by Henry mid stakes french guy who has been in Thailand for 1 year +. (white top on right)

War up bar, basically all the rich thai students go out here, not really the best place to go if you want to meet people but good to go with a bunch of mates.

We went up to a restaurant 1/2 up the mountain in chiang mai. It was pretty cool place to be, right next to the lake and filled with flower beds/floral designs.
semse
basically have a bunch of pictures of various other night clubs, some great, some same same/busto places.

We moved form the shitty guest house to Anoma boutique Its very new and run by a nice lady called Anna. She speaks english very well and can help you with most things you might need. The location is pretty good, close to markets, bars and restaurants. I would happilly recommend this place to anyone.

We were on one floor with the hot tub that no one was using so we have that whole area to ourselves. Also the place has wifi all over. The food is amazing they do a free breakfast at any time you get up and a full menu for lunch/dinner.

As we got settled in we also thought it would be good to get more mobile and rent some bikes.

We met up with some other 2+2 members Adam (also english
) and Alex at their flats (very balla). They show us to a place with a bunch of new builds but nothing is availible. We head out to a lake near by. This place was so peaceful and quite, I think I’ll be making lots of visits.

We went bowling and met up with some other guys (both 2+2) Ian (green T-shirt right) and kirk (sp? in the black top and beard).

We have a few beers and then head out to number 1 bar. It is a belgium beer bar, AMAZING.

We met the owner who tells us a bit about some of the beers. (in the white stiped top)
This beer is sooooo good but its 12%! also aged up to 15years. Its like a fine wine almost.
The night is somewhat hazy after this

The girl in the red on the left went totally nuts! she was drunk and got into a fight with Josh. She ended up breaking his glases, slapping him in the face then as he was running away bottled him square in the head, missing on the 2nd attempt!

this is Josh’s skull, no sign of life IMO.
